Home Run Derby
In Abington, PA, the winner of AAA’s Home Run Derby today is… Jarrett!
The Home Run Derby is a right of passage at Phillies Baseball Academy. Our Home Run Derby emulates the same competition as Major League Baseball’s Home Run Derby. It provides practice hitting, and good spirited competition for our campers. It also shows campers’ power and the ability to drive the baseball in a pressured situation.
Home Run Derby rules:
- If the camper hits the ball on the ground in the infield 1 point
- If the camper hits the ball in the air past the infield its 2 points
- If the camper hits the ball in the outfield in the air it’s 3 points
- Lastly, if the camper hits the ball past the cones it’s 4 points, which is a HOME RUN!
Once the entire division has 5-7 outs/swings, the two campers with the highest number of points go into a home run play-off! These two campers alternate back and forth with five bonus swings. The winner is the ultimate champion of their division! Congratulations Jarrett and the rest of AAA on the awesome effort.
