Eickhoff Gives PBA Pitching Tips
On Wednesday afternoon, PBA was welcomed to Citizens Bank Park for a full day of Phillies fun!
Our AAA division campers kicked off the day throwing “heat” in the Phillies bullpen while the other PBA divisions had the opportunity to play long-toss and catch fly balls in the outfield. Our campers were in awe of the facility and felt like big-leaguers playing on a professional baseball field. As the day continued each division was given an awesome behind-the-scenes tour of the ballpark.
Some campers even got to hold one of Ryan Howard’s bats!
The high-point of the day took place in the Media Room, as our campers patiently waited for two-surprise guests. First, Director of Scouting Administration Rob Holiday surprised our campers! It was such a pleasure meeting him and learning more about what it takes for young athletes to really get into major league baseball.
Finally, it was the moment everyone had been waiting for… in came Jerad Eickhoff!
Jerad Eickhoff is a right-handed pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies and is taking the mound on Thursday vs. the Marlins. Eickhoff went over his pre-game routine, which includes eating a Philly cheesesteak from Jim’s on South Street, as well making sure to properly stretch, run and hydrate.
Eickhoff explained how important it is to have a good balance point, and said that this can even be practiced at home. He taught our campers some drills to practice, such as the “towel drill.” Campers had time to ask Jerad some questions and found out his best friend on the team is pitcher Aaron Nola. Jerad does a lot for the community and is an amazing role model. It was such a pleasure to meet Jerad – PBA says, “Good luck on Thursday!”
